Our History

The company’s history dates back to 1980, when Airborne Freight Corporation (AFC), operating as Airborne Express, grew to become the third largest express freight company in the U.S. In 2003, DHL Worldwide Express acquired AFC with the exception of its airline and aircraft maintenance operations. The functions restructured under the holding company, Air Transport Services Group (ATSG). Since then, ATSG has diversified its portfolio of companies, becoming the global leader in midsize freighter leasing and ACMI market.
